Minority Business Loan Programs In Georgia

Mark Karavan, Knowledge Level: All Levels, Keywords: minority business loan programs in georgia
If you are in the southern states and need some help getting financing, then you should also know that you are in luck; there are a wealth of minority business loan programs in Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama and Mississippi.

You will probably have the most luck with loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA is an organization that was started in 1953 to help minorities, veterans, women, the disabled, and an increasingly high number of demographics with getting the financing that they need to start a business and get a piece of the American pie. Though the program faced some difficulties during the 1990's and early 2000's due to the influence of the Republican administrations, the SBA has been reinstated and reimbursed through the addition of TARP money and is once again open to a variety of potential businesses. It offers a wonderful number of minority business loan programs in Georgia and the southern states, as well as around the country.

Applications for an SBA loan meet similar requirements as conventional loans. The SBA practices very sound financial practices, and it requires solid business pitches and other responsible lending requirements as any other program. Be sure that your business proposal is well-outlines when you pitch your idea to a bank that is lending out the SBA loans.

There are a number of other state-specific minority business loan programs in Georgia and the southern states, though due to the greater popularity and quality of federal loan programs they are not known as well. Check with your financial advisor to see what sort of other loan programs are available in your state, and know all the options before you make a financial decision.
