Mark Young, Knowledge Level: Moderate, Keywords: buying a new car, sales, advice

** Remember that a new car looks good on your business taxes, but does nothing for your personal taxes. (not a professional opinion)

Buying a new car can be rewarding if you know what you're doing "before" you wander onto a car lot. All consumer's need to know is, that when buying a new car " the dealer wants to sell it as bad as you want to buy it". They'll do anything to keep you from leaving without it. As with anything being purchased, if you follow this simple process when buying a new car, you'll always get a better deal.

1. Always do your research: search the Internet. compare other dealerships out to a 100 mile radius. compare prices on the model(s) you're interested in. compare prices in local newspapers and other print. call other dealers and get their prices.

2. Buy local. Any dealer that has a " repeat business agenda " will always work harder to sell to local customer's. They want you to bring it back for all it's service and warranty claims.

3. Know you Manufacturer's rebate's and incentive's, this is money that you're entitled to but the dealer wants to keep it whenever possible.

4. Arm yourself. When buying a new car, always take all of your information with you. You can't remember it all and if they see the chance, they'll take advantage of you, it's their forte' and they're good at it.

5. If you have a trade-in, never mention it or let them know you're trading until you've settled on a price first. All dealerships work profit's back into the deal by "holding back" on your trade-in allowance.

When buying a new car, if you apply this simple process, you'll always get a better deal. You have to make the dealer "earn" your business. Buying your next new car could save you thousands of dollars!
