QUOTE OF THE MONTH

"Men make history, and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better."

A Metropolitan Safari for Rwanda at iContact
Ryan Allis

We are hosting a "Metropolitan Safari" on Monday November 8th at 6:30pm at our new offices in Morrisville. We will have as guests two remarkable women from Rwanda who will share with us their perspective of the Rwandan genocide, how the country has turned their economy around through technology and entrepreneurship, and the role of women in rebuilding the country. We will also be giving the grand tour of our beautiful new space and offering rides on our new slide.

We will have African food, African music, and an open wine and beer bar. We'll start out with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the 2nd floor at 6:30pm then going upstairs for the Akilah presentation. I hope you will join us for this special evening. All proceeds from the evening will support the Akilah Scholarship Fund and empower young Rwandan women to become leaders in their communities.

About the Akilah Institute for Women

Alternative Lending Methods for Green Companies
Shannon Suetos

Green retail supply companies have higher operating costs than many of the other retail supply companies. It is essential to have a good grasp on all of the finances which make it possible to purchase the necessary materials and convert them into a green product which can be sold to the public. Borrowing money is something which factors heavily into the business plans of many green retail suppliers. It is not always possible for the companies to get short term loans which will allow them to have the operating expenses they will need to get their work done.

In many cases, the best way to get the money which is necessary is through companies which offer factoring services. Even green companies which would not normally resort to these kinds of tactics have been using them more and more as the loans from traditional banks dry up, they are forced to go elsewhere. Even with the economy on a supposed comeback, there is still a reluctance to make short term loans from banks to businesses. There seems to be no shortage of companies which will provide factoring services. In fact, when you look to find local vendors, you will find the numbers of these businesses are growing.

8 Secrets of Successful Speakers
Jennifer Davey

1. The title of your speech should clearly explain the number-one takeaway (the result) that your audience will get. Make sure the title is so clear that a kindergartener would know what result or takeaway they will get from hearing you speak.

2. Create a handout or workbook and have attendees trade their names and email addresses in exchange for the information. Doing this will bring the seminar/webinar/teleseminar attendees into your marketing and sales funnel. You can offer them the opportunity to get the handout either before or at the end of the event, depending on the venue and whether it is online or offline.

3. Prep, prep, prep! Whether it's free or paid, you need to solidly prep for every event. Your attendees are giving you their most valuable asset - TIME. Let them know you are treating it (and them) with respect.
