Eyes, Ears, Nose and Paws

Not all dogs are created equal, some were made more superior for providing ongoing support to patients with life-altering conditions. Eyes Ears Nose and Paws harnesses the unique strengths of canine partnerships with people to improve lives and create a life-long companion. Service dogs from Eyes Ears Nose and Paws are perfect for retrieving items, turning the lights on/off, opening doors, pushing buttons, helping with clothing and bed sheets, assisting with transfers and finding help when needed. These dogs love to learn and are willing to learn new tasks that their companion needs.

Eyes Ears Nose and Paws has also trained diabetic assistance dogs to help their human partners maintain a better control over their blood sugar levels. These dogs can smell a change in body odor when the blood sugar levels move above or below normal ranges and will alert their companion until the level is back to normal; should the companion be non-responsive, the dog will seek assistance from other people.

Eyes Ears Nose and Paws accepts donation in many forms such as: donating money, raising a pup in training, donating your time, donating dog items and spreading the word.

The Rise of Rwanda
Ryan Allis

Muraho from Kigali, Rwanda!

I'm on my way back to the USA today after eight days in Rwanda.

Below are some photos from Kigali, Rwanda taken this week. While here I had a chance to explore Kigali, meet with entrepreneurs, trek with the gorillas in the Virunga National Park, hike on the mountains overlooking Lake Kivu in Gisenyi, and see the future campus of the Akilah Institute for Women in Bugesera District. Kigali is probably the cleanest city in East Africa with lots and lots of paved streets and sidewalks.

The World Bank in its 2011 Doing Business Report named Rwanda as the most improved country in Africa and 2nd most improved globally for ease of conducting business. The Rwanda Development Board (RBD) is working hard to streamline business and investment regulations to make doing business in Rwanda attractive. Take a look at this Powerpoint slide deck from the RBD detailing business reforms and this news article "Rwanda is Now Open for Business."

5 Things I Did Right to Start Seeing Consistent Growth
Michele Pariza-Wacek

I was very excited about how I ended 2010. I finally hit a financial milestone. However, I wasn't an overnight success. I started this process in 2005 to transform my business from a one-woman freelance copywriter to president of a copywriting and marketing company.

I'm going through all the things I did so you can duplicate my success. Below are 5 things that worked for me:

1. Started attending events. Now, I'm not talking about becoming an event junkie. But I do believe going to events is key to taking your business to the next level. There are so many benefits from attending events beyond what you're going to learn from the speakers -- networking, connecting with your "tribe," getting out of your own little world so you can get some fresh ideas for your business, meeting the "movers and shakers" in your industry and more.

Entrepreneurs Face Brighter Future from Angel Investors
Shannon Suetos

Getting the capital necessary to start a business is not always the easiest thing in the world to accomplish. The recession has wiped out many of the loans which might have been given out from lending institutions. Of course, one of the main ways that startups have been able to get their money in the past has been through private investors. These investors are not looking to make a loan. They are more interested in purchasing a part of the burgeoning business so that they can see a return on their investment. With the poor returns many have seen from the stock market, it seems that angel investing is seeing an upsurge.

The year 2009 saw an increase in investors for some 57,225 companies to the tune of $17.6 billion. About 359,480 individuals gave the money. The numbers are growing for the year 2010 and 2011 is expected to see even more growth in the investments individuals are expected to make. To make sure that you are able to see a portion of this money, it is imperative to first know where to look. You will also need to have an impeccable business plan out together. Last, but not least, you will need to have a realistic amount that you are willing to ask for even if it means having to ask several different people.
