Former CEO of AOL Aids in Improving America's Education System

The Board of Directors at KnowledgeWorks, a company that develops innovative high schools nationwide, has recently welcomed a new board member - former Chairman and CEO of AOL, Barry Schuler. Schuler was formerly the Board Chairman of the New Techonology Foundation, and following the foundation's integration into KnowledgeWorks, Schuler signed on to become an active member of their new Board of Directors. Schuler has stated that he is excited to work with KnowledgeWorks as they begin to expand their "learner-centered" innovative high schools across the country - from 40 to over 200 schools. Current Board Chairman Joseph Tomain has said that he hopes Schuler's influence will enhance the board's strategic focus. Schuler also comes with a bit of experience, founding the Blue Oak School where students study liberal arts and teachers encourage understanding rather than memorization in 2002.
