Two different clothing giants, under the thumb of one giant company. Phillips-Van Heusen has bought out Tommy Hilfiger clothing from Tommy Hilfiger himself. Mr. Hilfiger will stay on as the principal designer and visionary for the clothing department.
Both clothing giants, Tommy and Calvin are globally known for their iconic style. Where Calvin Klein sales are weighed mainly here in the United States, Tommy Hilfiger on the other hand is tilted more towards the Europe and Asia.
Tommy Hilfiger created the label back in 1985 and has linked his clothing to the music industry, to people like Snoop Dogg. And over the last four years, they have opened stores abroad in Europe and Asia. They have over a thousand store outlets opened in malls across the country. Making a hefty profit of about $270m, so far for the year up to March.
