Karen Mills to Head Small Business Association

In a nod to entrepreneurs everywhere, Barack Obama has chosen Karen Mills to be the new head of the Small Business Administration. Maine Senator Susan Collins announced the pick earlier today.
The choice has already begun garnering praise from Capitol Hill, particularly among women in business. Mills currently serves as the president of MMP Group out of Main. She was also a founding partner of Solera Capital, a private equity investment firm.
Mills will be facing a difficult time upon reaching Washington D.C. Small business is suffering due to the current economic crisis, and as many have noted, the SBA has suffered several cuts over the years. It will be her job to turn the course and help encourage entrepreneurship across the country.
Like all major appointments, Mills will face the scrutiny of the Senate before her appointment. However, given the Senate's Democratic Majority, it is unlikely that she will face much opposition.
