Lunokhod 2 is a Russian lunar rover, but it is owned by a British born gaming entrepreneur. Richard Garriott bought the rover lost in space from Sotheby's Auction back in 1998 in New York. Little did he know that it had been found on the moon.
Richard is a second generation American astronaut, who traveled to the International Space Station back in 2008. He was informed that the lunar rover had been found. In fact, Professor Phil Stooke solved the 37 year old mystery. He works at the University of Western Ontario, and was researching thousands of images of the moon when he happened across the shadow of the lunar.
He noticed that the lunar had hit a small crater, and covered itself up with soil, which caused it to overheat and then it stopped right where it is and has been for the last 37 years.
