Non-Profit Aims to Assist Entrepreneurs

The Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center is a local non-profit organization that strives to help educate and support entrepreneurs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The center has been providing classes for entrepreneurs in 1995, when it only offered Business Planing classes. Today, the center offers classes ranging from writing a business plan, to finance, marketing, one-on-one consulting, and a small business incubator.
The center targets low to moderate income men and women, often from minority backgrounds. The organization felt that this selection of the population has less resources when deciding to start their own business. And in fact, today 72% of its clients are women, 75% are from minority backgrounds, and 90% are low to moderate income.
