North Texas Entrepreneurs See Recession as Opportunity

It would be easy to assume that a recession means bad news for everyone, but all over the country inventive entrepreneurs have proven that to be a false assumption. Several examples in the North Texas region are typical of those who insist that an abundance of lemons means it's a good time to make lemonade.
This past June, friends Ray Waddell and Victor Garcia left good positions with established companies to form CED Electrical as a minority-owned electrical company in Fort Worth. The recession created the opportunity for them to buy up a number of small local companies who were struggling but who had great lists of established customers.
Crafty entrepreneurs know that a recession can create many bargains, both in business opportunities for sale as well as low-interest loans. It can also mean new opportunities for sales channels that might not have existed before. Until recently Village Homes of Fort Worth had dealt mostly in the high-end housing market. Now they have started HD Homes to offer homes at a lower price point where sales now are more frequent. The numerous lower-priced building lots now available made this possible. Additionally, HD Homes has been able to capitalize on the large pool of available talent resulting from very capable people who found themselves jobless simply because their companies hit hard times.
