After 25 seasons on the air, Oprah Winfrey's famous talk show will fade to black in 2011; but this will not be the end of Oprah, she has an entire empire spread across the globe to keep her name going long after she's gone. Oprah's tv show is watched by an estimated 42 million viewers in 145 countries worldwide; she has hosted several A-list names and budding singers, actors and actresses; she has interviewed Liberace, Tom Cruise, Celine Dion, Mike Tyson, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and many more. Oprah has given numerous prizes in her studio, some of the more famous gifts have been the Amazon Kindle and brand new cars. Fans have tracked her weight and legal disputes through her show, and have become overjoyed with all her awards and winnings.
Oprah launched her book club in 1996 through her show and has single-handedly boosted the publishing industry. Writers have been in constant controversy with Oprah's choices, but Oprah continues to push her pro-reading plan; she has chewed out fabricators and graced authors with great stories. She has even used her Oprah magazine to spread her theories, thoughts and life's lessons.
Oprah owns her own production company, Harpo (Oprah backwards), which produces shows with Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray, she co-founded the Oxygen network and has a cable network OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) that will debut in more than 70 millions homes and is expecting a new Oprah talk show. Through all of her productions, Oprah ranks number 45 on financial magazine Forbes' list of the world's most powerful people and makes more than an estimated net worth of $2.3 billion.
Oprah Winfrey made her first public endorsement when she gave Barack Obama her seal of approval and showed herself at the voting booth. She quickly asked Obama to appear on her show and turned down an interview with VP elect Sarah Palin. She has been in a few movies and has created a school for girls near Johannesburg, South Africa.
Through all of Oprah's triumphs, Oprah will definitely be around longer than most talk show hosts. She will be remembered for decades after she has passed on and her spirit and actions could possibly live on for centuries.
