Outstanding Women in Business Award Given to Science Education Entrepreneur

The 2009 "Outstanding Women in Business" Award was given today to Linda Jeschofnig, President and CEO of Hands-On Labs, Inc. for the small business category. Jeschofnig's company, Hands-On Labs, develops and distributes LabPaqs, which are science laboratory experiments, packaged for students on campuses and students going to school online. She and her husband, Dr. Peter Jeschofnig, a professor at Colorado Mountain College, first developed these at-home lab kits for distance-learning students at the university in 1994. This grew into Hands-On Labs, and by early 2009, they had launched an e-commerce website and partnered with McGraw Hill Higher Education. In 2009, Hands-On Labs, will reach $4 million in sales, and Jeschofnig expects this to double by 2010.
