In Raleigh, North Carolina, more than 300 potential entrepreneurs have been trained at Wake Technical Community College in its premier business planning course, "Planning the Entrepreneurial Venture" since the winter of 2008. The course, developed by the Kauffman Foundation, teaches its participants how to write a formal business plan to present to banks, investors, and the like. Fred Gebarowski, Wake Tech's Director of Entrepreneurship, is firm in his belief that many business fail because the people that start them did so for the wrong reasons - and this course will make sure that entrepreneurs have a well-thought through business plan before starting on their venture. Students in the course vary from those who have recently lost their jobs to people who are finally getting a plan together for a long dormant good idea.
