Web-based photo service Shutterfly Inc. stated today that they have aquired a small picture-sharing startup, Tiny Pictures. Shutterfly Inc. is an online photography service that lets users upload digital photos and order prints, along with other custom-printed items such as mugs, calendars and books. The company they aquired, Tiny Pictures Radar service, was designed to let people share pictures and videos taken by cell phones via its website, where users can connect their images to social sites like Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. John Poisson, CEO of Tiny Pictures, and his employees will join Shutterfly. The aquisition prompted a jump in shares for Shutterfly - up 47 cents to $14.78, a 3.3 percent difference, and continues to rise.
