Six Democratic Seedlings

As a young lad in May of 1817, Alanson Gillett was given 6 seedlings from an apple tree by his dad. He was told to go and plant them, which he did. Fortunately within three years, the trees were big enough and old enough to produce Rome Beauty apples. At first they weren't the best eating apples, but they sure made some good apple pies.
And over the next generation, the business has expanded and has been maintained by the family ever since.
