Michael Ballard too a trip to Sturgis in 1999 and got a brilliant idea to start his own 'world's largest biker bar'. He quickly sold his cellular phone business and returned to South Dakota to begin construction on his dream bar.
Once construction was complete, the Full Throttle Saloon features an indoor/outdoor bar with two large stages, a tattoo parlor, a burn-out pit, a wrestling ring, restaurants, dozens of stores, 200 cabins for rent and a parking lot for thousands of bikes. Ballard instantly knew he had truly built something unique and wanted to share it with the world, so he sent out on several business ventures. He tried to pitch a reality series to VH1, but was turned down for a celebrity reality series.
Ballard now has an opportunity to show the world his creation, he gets to host his own reality series on TruTV with his 300 employees to manage. The lack of sleep will be compensated with the money that rolls in when roughly half a million bikers roll in at the next Sturgis event. It really has become an inspiring story of a single entrepreneur on a mission.
