New entrepreneurs want to jump out of the box and hit the ground running, but that's far from doing what is right. When budding entrepreneurs take off, they think the know what to expect, but wind up hitting a road block and don't know what to do or where to go. Rather than go through the hassles and problems with no help, take the following information to heart and set your self up before you take the leap into entrepreneurship.
There are 9 traits of a successful entrepreneur and you can learn to address these traits at any given time. You should be a goal-oriented, accountable and disciplined individual in order to keep your business on track and prevent it from derailing. You should also be adaptable, resilient and determined - this will keep you from wanting to give up at the worst of times, if you fall on the job, get back up and keep moving forward. Be creative and open minded, solving problems and expanding will help your new business thrive.
You should always be confident and optimistic with your new business, as many people will show their pessimism towards your business and your ideas, and you will need to overcome their negativity. Be persistent with your ideas, by sticking with an idea long enough, it will eventually catch and make progress. It's also very important to be an avid learner, by watching others make mistakes and listening to their failure stories, you can take that knowledge and make yourself a better person and prevent yourself from making the same mistakes. You will need to be ambitious and driven as this motivation from yourself will get your business off the ground, and if you don't care about your own business, no one else will care about it either. Being a self starter is also important - only you can make yourself wake up and go to work in the morning and if you aren't willing to work on weekends or holidays to get a job done, it could cost your business a client or 2. Lastly, be passionate about your work, if you don't love what you do, you'll quickly start dreading your work and will begin to find a new job.
