Twitter Confirms New Funding

Twitter confirmed a new round of funding today from mutual fund giant T. Rowe Price, as well as venture captial firms Spark Capital, Insight Venture Partners, Benchmark Captial and Institutional Venture Partners. The confirmation came today in a blog post by Evan Williams, Twitter's chief executive. Insiders say that the funds are of a significant value, but an exact amount was not revealed. Williams also confirmed that Twitter's value has not yet reached the $1 billion benchmark. Previously, the microblogging startup raised $55 million in venture capital, which includes a significant $35 million from Benchmark Capital earlier this year.
