Wishes on the Street for 2009

During the last day of 2008, the people of Danbury have expressed the same wish for the new year . . . . a better economy.
"A better economy - that will say it all," said Jim clark, who owns a business in downtown as well as resides in a local neighborhood. "I hope the economy gets better and that people will be able to afford to live a better life"
"Hopefully, the administration will be able to bring some change once they take over in February" said Antonio Resendes as he added that he believes the financial bailouts are acting more as a band-aid to bleeding wounds. Being from the Portugal city of Azores, Resendes has been in both democratic and socialist countries. Although he favors democracy, he said the basis of growth in any government is entrepreneurship.
Resendes believes in entrepreneurship without government regulations and things that the more a government is involves, the worse the economic situation is.
Another Danbury resident, Robert Di Vincenzi, wishes for good health both bodily and financially in 2009. "Good health as far as being able to do thing in a daily routine," he says. "Like go to work and survive. If you don't have that, you don't have much else."
Overall, it seems the majority of residents are looking for big change in the country in 2009. But as Resendes points out, win or lose, it's up to the people, not the government to bail the United States out of its losses.
