Living in Boston, summer is definitely my favorite season. Sure, there are a few days that are warmer than I’d like, but for the most part, I find the weather DELICIOUS! I love sleeping with the windows open and feeling the breeze of fresh air, eating outside, going to the beach, being able to walk outside at night without a sweater.

And then there’s the FOOD! The summer harvest provides the most amazing fruits and vegetables, and you can even get them grown locally. My favorites include cherries, strawberries, raspberries, nectarines, red grapes, melons, red leaf lettuce, corn, arugula, cucumber, basil, tomatoes, and peas. The best way to get delicious, locally grown produce is to shop at farmer’s markets. You can get a list of farmer’s markets near you by going to: www.localharvest.org.

In the Boston area it always seems that we wait all year for summer to arrive, and before we know it, it’s over.  This summer, I encourage you to make the most of this glorious season.  Set your intention by making a list of all the summer activities you want to do and places you want to go.  You might want to shift your exercise routine outside and go biking, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, walking, rollerblading, or swimming.  How do you want to spend your down time? Maybe you want to learn to sail, take a day trip or a long weekend to a nearby town, go camping, have a BBQ, garden, or maybe you simply want to sit outside and relax.  In order to make time for all these activities you may want to reduce other activies like watching TV or shopping.

Whatever calls to you, use this summer to make it happen and enjoy this wonderful season.
