High tech behemoth Hewlett-Packard has announced that Internet pioneer and entrepreneur Marc Andreesen has accepted a position on HP's board of directors. It was just two years ago when Adreesen sold his Opsware software company to HP for $1.6 billion.
Andreesen is most famous for having co-developed Mosaic, the browser that some say made the World Wide Web possible. He now has major influence in a Who's Who of web-based wunderkind, including Facebook, eBay, and Ning.
“Marc Andreessen is a software pioneer whose leadership has helped shape the Internet,” said Mark Hurd, HP chairman and chief executive officer. “Marc’s entrepreneurial background and industry expertise will be a welcome addition to the HP board of directors.”
HP describes itself as "the world’s largest technology company, simplifies the technology experience for consumers and businesses with a portfolio that spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure. More information about HP is available at http://www.hp.com/."
