Philadelphia Entrepreneurship Center Celebrate 1 Year Anniversary

Next week the Urban League Entrepreneurship Center in Philadelphia celebrates its one-year anniversary. Since opening its doors last year, the center has counseled more than 100 minority-owned businesses. The anniversary, on November 18th, will begin with a panel discussion that will focus on ways entrepreneurs can grow their business, titled "Entrepreneurial Empowerment through Collaboration." Next, Brandy and Victor Davila, owners of Salon Tenshi, will be presented with the first Emerging Business of the Year Award.
Darryl Vereen, director of the Economic Development for the Urban League of Philadelphia stated that they center was more successful than he had imagined it would be a year ago. The center's client have earned roughly $2.5 million in revenues since December of 2008. Five of the center's clients have committed to catering the monumental event on Wednesday. It is to be held at PECO's Energy Hall on Market Street, and festivities will begin with a networking reception at 6p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
