Indianapolis becomes one of only a few US cities to have venture capital firms looking solely at new technologies related to food and agriculture. The MidPoint Food and Ag Fund, sporting a $27.8 million balance sheet, is now ready to rock and roll.
BioCrossroads is the company which performed studies uncovering the potential financial windfalls to come from this oft behind the scenes industry. The Indiana area sports one of the worlds greatest concentration of research facilities dedicated to food science yet has to this point been lacking in entrepreneurial initiatives and incentives. Considering that the agribusiness has historically been recession proof this looks like a very promising venture.
